    Rendering for 666 Fifth Avenue

    Methanoia

Zaha Hadid Architects has unveiled plans for a Kushner Companies skyscraper at 666 Fifth Avenue, four blocks from Trump Tower in New York.

The plans calls for a rebuild of the 1950s office building with an addition of 40 stories hosting mixed-use space for offices, residential and hotel areas.

Kushner Companies, which is owned by President Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner's family, is the developer. While Kushner is no longer CEO of the company, and he sold his shares in the building to his father, Dezeen notes that questions linger "over the company's investment talks with China's Anbang Insurance Group, which could be construed as buying influence with the Trump administration."

Social media has already taken the building to task, with tweets noting that the 666 number of the address is associated with the devil, and the 1,400-foot tower's supertall shape brings to mind the perch of Eye of Sauron from the Lord of the Rings, among other things.
