NYC's Museum of Ice Cream Heads to California

The sensational pop-up Museum of Ice Cream that sold-out tickets when it opened in New York last summer is heading to southern California. A new location is expected to open next month, possibly in the Santa Monica/Venice Beach area, according to reports.

In five days, all 30,000 tickets were sold for the New York attraction (in temporary digs by the Whitney Museum) that featured an ode to frozen dairy delights in art and sweets-themed experiences that made for Instagram-worthy memories.

Dreamed up by 24-year-old creative strategist Maryellis Bunn and 36-year-old former investment banker Manish Vora, the concept was a "passion project" for the co-creators, as told to the New York Times.

Museum of Ice Cream describes itself as "a lick-able, likable, shareable ice cream-centric experience. Interactive highlights from the inaugural iteration in New York included a swimmable rainbow sprinkle pool, edible balloons, an immersive chocolate room and a collaborative massive ice cream sundae."
